Guthu Mane Tour

Guthu Houses are the traditional houses of the landowners in the coastal region. The houses were usually associated with paddy fields and so you will even today see some of the houses in the middle of vast swathes of paddy fields.

The houses were associated with a 'daiva' which they would worship. There are many breathtaking architectural features setting these houses apart, such as exquisitely carved pillars and doors.

Nowadays, these houses are mostly used during the main pooja of the year. In this heritage tour, we will visit some Guthu homes, and narrate the stories behind their design.
